Facebook Connect and New Features
We have launched several new features & changes to Tradeomics. You have 2 new options when creating a new account or logging in: Connect using Facebook or Twitter.
Benefits of using Twitter or Facebook Connect:
- Single sign-on. You no longer have to remember the username and password for another site.
- We’ll get a profile photo and other information so you have less to fill out.
- Improved sharing integration. Don’t worry we’ll never share anything without asking.
Improved Item Browsing & Navigation
First thing you will notice is the Pinterest-style item layout. The new layout makes it easier to quickly browse through the items and find that item you want to swap for.
We are excited about the design of the browse items page and navigation.
The navigation is new and improved. The sub categories no longer appear on hover of the menu, instead the sub navigation is broken out and shown below the primary navigation.
We added a new category, Sporting Goods. If you have category suggestions we would love to hear them, we’ll be adding more as we see the need.
Item Page Changes
This for That.
We added a new field, “What do you want for this item?”, when adding a new item. This shows up on an item page below the estimated price titled “Owner Interested In:”. This will give you an idea of what other members would like before proposing a trade.
Facebook Comments.
By popular request, we have added commenting to the items. You can now ask the item owner questions before beginning the trade, this will help cut down on any back and forth during the trade process.
When you comment on an item, the item owner will get an email and Tradeomics notification letting them know of your comment.
What’s Next.
There are many improvements that we have planned for Tradeomics. Such as a new dashboard to help you manage and discover stuff to swap, item recommendations based on what you like and what you have, localized searching, and more.
